Wenonah
> Touring Canoes
Wenonah is quite possibly the finest Fiberglass, Kevlar and Carbon
Fiber hulls ever designed. Luckily for us in the "rocky river
and stream" section of the country Wenonah developed Royalex
versions of their designs and did so incredibly well. Tight entry
and exit lines, stable, efficient and all in a indestructable material
make for a canoe that will surely be the envy of every outing. |

The Adirondack has
enough stability for fishing, photography, and other pursuits,
yet its steadiness doesn't extract a toll in paddling performance
or rough-water capability.
Designed for the smaller rivers and lakes of the Northeast,
the Adirondack is ideal for that region, and it has attractions
that make it popular everywhere.
Meant for day outings and for trips of a night or two, this
model only has medium volume, but it paddles very efficiently
with a light-to-moderate load. Canoe & Kayak Magazine tested
it and said, "This is one smooth-paddling canoe, and it
has excellent final stability. It's a bit less initially stable,
but that is what gains the efficient paddling and glide."

The Adirondack travels more easily than our
Fisherman, Heron, Aurora, or Rogue but less so than our other
tandems. Among 16' hulls from all builders, however, the Adirondack
is sleeker and has less rocker. These aspects make it a straight-tracking,
easy-paddling canoe. A 16'-long hull, if very well designed,
can be at the threshold of having good speed and glide in
the absolute sense (rather than just compared to other 16'
models), and this is definitely a performance-oriented canoe
among medium-short designs.
Of the hull-material choices for the Adirondack, our Tuf-weave
Flex-core model has fine performance at an appealing price.
The Kevlar version is ideal to portage into remote lakes,
or for people who struggle carrying a heavier canoe. And for
really shallow, rocky streams, our Royalex Adirondack is best.
It combines the durability of Royalex with paddling ease not
found in any aluminum hull, and rarely in a plastic one.

The Spirit paddles well on calm water, but it also has the
agility and seaworthiness to cope with medium rapids and wind-driven
waves.
"Balanced" is the best word to describe the Spirit.
It travels distances easily yet maneuvers well. It's capable
on rapids, and on open water, too. It's big enough for trips.
It's also very stable.
So, does this canoe obsolete all others? No, because if you
want an elevated level of a certain attribute, say tracking
or capacity, then a specialized design may suit you better.
But if you need a canoe that delivers a good level of all
types of performance, the Spirit is ideal.
When Canoe & Kayak Magazine tested it, they concluded,
"...this canoe is simple and functional. If you could
have only one canoe to

serve all your paddling needs for the rest
of your life, the Spirit would be one of very few candidates."
This model has the longest history of any in our line. Its
full name is "The Spirit of We.no.nah II." Our first
canoe in 1968 was named simply "We.no.nah." It was
a highly-versatile yet performance-oriented hull. Today's
Spirit II is a third-generation refinement of it.
At 17' long, it strikes a good balance between the efficiency
of a longer hull and the maneuvering of a shorter one.
The Spirit is safe and roomy, too, having the capacity for
medium-heavy trips. With two large people it draws just 4,"
leaving lots of reserve buoyancy for gear. With more load
it becomes more stable yet still handles well, even on waves.
Should you have a Spirit? If no single We.no.nah model seems
ideal due to its specialization, you likely need the wide
versatility of our Spirit, or its cousins, the Heron, or Aurora.
All have similar design aspects but differ in length. The
Heron is the most agile and lightest, but the Spirit suits
the greatest range of uses.
Also, you may consider the Champlain in certain cases. Similar
in concept, this hull is significantly larger. It can better
suit larger people, heavier trips, or families with multiple
children. The Spirit, though, is more manageable.
We make the Spirit in three composite versions that deliver
excellent paddling. We also make it from Royalex, which is
the sensible choice for canoe-camping if rapids or rocky streams
will be a factor.

The Kingfisher is designed specificially to deliver rock-solid
stability for fishing, hunting, photography and other recreational
activities. While this is a highly-steady, maneuverable canoe,
the Kingfisher has surprisingly good performance as well.
An extremely stable, mid-sized recreational design, the Kingfisher
is excellent for hunting and fishing, birdwatching, wildlife
and nature photography, or simply exploring your local backwaters.
While rock-solid stability is a major
appeal of this Dave Kruger design, the Kingfisher has surprisingly
good performance as well.
Similar in concept to our popular Fisherman,
the Kingfisher is an inch wider and a full two feet longer.
Not only is the Kingfisher more comfortable for larger paddlers,
its extra length also gives it better efficiency, and improved
capacity. And while it is not as maneuverable as the Fisherman,
the Kingfisher's 16 foot length is still easy for most paddlers
to manage.

We offer the Kingfisher in three composite
constructions that deliver excellent performance. At just
39 lbs., our Kevlar Ultra-light construction is excellent
when light weight is the highest priority; our Kevlar Flex-core
at 51 lbs. withstands more rugged use, while the Tuf-weave
Flex-core version delivers fine performance at an economical
price. We also build the Kingfisher in Royalex which can be
a wise choice if you will often paddle in shallow rocky conditions.
The Kingfisher's outstanding combination
of stability and efficiency make this an extraordinary canoe
for both new paddlers and seasoned outdoor adventurers who
desire a super-stable sporting canoe.
